The Embodied team has spent months working to build a solid groundwork for a successful launch and growth. And we do have a bold vision!
We will only succeed with the Lord’s blessing. He has already done amazing things to help our efforts, and we now ask you to join us confidently in prayer for the funds needed to successfully launch!
Novena starting May 1
My concentrated efforts to establish this magazine began right around the time Pope Francis declared the Year of St. Joseph, so I immediately began asking for his intercession. What a perfect saint for this project as he is known as The Worker and built things, both as a carpenter and as the head of the Holy Family.
But I also was recently introduced to the wonderful Novena to Our Lady of Good Remedy, and the story behind that prayer convinced me to use this particular novena at this particular time.
Setting captives free
John of Matha was a Christian saint of the 12th century and founder of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity (the Trinitarians). At the time in medieval Europe there was often warfare between Christians and Muslims, and the threat of capture or kidnapping was high. The redemption of captives was included as a corporal work of mercy, and several orders (including St. John’s) were founded to do that work.
His priests would go to the slave markets, buy the Christian slaves and set them free. To do this, they needed large sums of money and turned to the intercession of the Blessed Mother for their fund-raising efforts. Her prayers did not disappoint. Because of her miraculous help, St. John gave her the title, Our Lady of Good Remedy. The Trinitarians freed thousands of people, returning them safely home.
Captives of the culture
Embodied is being created to remind readers who they are as beloved sons and daughters of the Creator. This profound truth is lost to many in today’s individualistic culture. They are slaves of another type, and Theology of the Body can bring them new freedom. But we need donors and supporters to provide the funds necessary to get started.
Help launch Embodied with your prayers! Please join our team in asking the intercession of both St. Joseph and the Blessed Mother through this novena beginning on the feast of St. Joseph the Worker – May 1.
Novena Prayer to Our Lady of Good Remedy
O QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, Most Holy Virgin, we venerate thee. Thou art the beloved Daughter of the Most High God, the chosen Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Immaculate Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Vessel of the Most Holy Trinity.
O Mother of the Divine Redeemer, who under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy comes to the aid of all who call upon thee, extend thy maternal protection to us. We depend on thee, Dear Mother, as helpless and needy children depend on a tender and caring mother.
Hail, Mary…
O LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, grant that we may draw from thy treasury of graces in our time of need.
Touch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the poor and the hopeless; aid the sick and the suffering. May they be healed in body and strengthened in spirit to endure their sufferings with patient resignation and Christian fortitude.
Hail, Mary…
DEAR LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, thy compassionate heart knows a remedy for every affliction and misery we encounter in life. Help me with thy prayers and intercession to find a remedy for my problems and needs, especially for adequate funding to launch Embodied Magazine (add your own special intentions here).
On my part, O loving Mother, I pledge myself to a more intensely Christian lifestyle, to a more careful observance of the laws of God, to be more conscientious in fulfilling the obligations of my state in life, and to strive to be a source of healing in this broken world of ours.
Dear Lady of Good Remedy, be ever present to me, and through thy intercession, may I enjoy health of body and peace of mind, and grow stronger in the faith and in the love of thy Son, Jesus.
Hail, Mary…
V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of Good Remedy,
R. That we may deepen our dedication to thy Son, and make the world alive with His Spirit.
